I informed you that I had represented to Sir Bruce that if he could persuade the Chinese Govt to give the entire control, payment, discipline of the 1000 Chinese under instruction by Lieut Cols Webb & Kingsley, I should be enabled to send to England the 31 Punjab Regt.
